Farm Share Week Five: Asparagus-lets honor it one more time...

Posted on May 22nd, 2020 by Agriberry Farm

Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone! I hope you are finding rest and relaxation amidst the strange times we are living in. I think we all deserve a vacation, even if that means just setting up a tent in your backyard or rearranging your living room to give it that feeling of novelty.

I spent my Saturday in the woods, and let me tell you, it was nourishing to my soul to bathe in the forest for a few hours. Screen-free and off-the-grid, there is nothing quite as calming as a day in the mountains.

This week on the Agriberry radar, our standard share is 2 clamshell pound units of strawberries, 1 pint of blueberries, and 1 bunch of asparagus. Anne wanted to remind members that Asparagus is one of few vegetables that is planted and emerges year after year IF it is not harvested too long in the springtime. So, we will wind down offering asparagus after this week.

Feel free to make any swaps or add-ons as you wish.

I hope you all are loving your strawberries because they are our "star" berries so far this season!

A few members have shared some of their delicious recipes with me throughout the week ranging from strawberry daiquiris (using frozen strawberries instead of ice cubes) to homemade strawberry ice cream (no ice cream maker needed!). These frozen treats seem fitting as we fully step into the warmth of another Richmond summer.

As always, feel free to reach out to me with any issues, concerns, comments, questions, etc. I love recipe sharing, so please, tell me what you are doing with all your goodies!

Looking forward to this sunny week!
