The Last Winter CSA

Posted on December 10th, 2021 by Carly Richardson

With our first snow falling and the holidays upon us it's time send you the last Winter share of the 2021 season!

On the farm are still in the thick of planning deep in the spreadsheets. Today we placed our first seed orders for next season. Ordering seeds is quite exciting and we love dreaming about the coming season as we shop around different fun varieties and plot out what to grow where! Today we got to order a bunch of different varieties of tomatoes and onions, as they will be the first thing we seed in the greenhouse next season - we sure felt excited to keep up the work as we got to imagine growing juicy tomatoes in cool December! And we hope you all will be with us again next year to enjoy all the fun new varieties we've got planned!

For this weeks share we will be primarily be offering items you are familiar with from us with we have had throughout the winter such as Rutabega, Kale, Spinach, beets, onions, leeks & cabbage. This week we will also be offering some organic Siglinde Potatoes from Cropthorne farm! We can't grow potatoes here on our farm, so we are excited to offer you these potatoes in our last share. Siglinde Potatoes are a buttery yellow variety great for roasting or boiling or mashing!

We will also have just a few last extras to add of some 5lb bags of apples at a discount and a few more small jars of our famous fermented hot sauce in 250ml size. There are both smoked and non-smoked jars available!

With some seed orders started and much planning done, Hannah and I are looking forward to a nice break over the holidays to be with our families, rest, play and reflect. Farming is demanding seasonal work and so after many extra long days all summer long our bodies and minds appreciate the winter months to slow down.

We hope that this holiday season you find rest, joy and playfulness this season as well. We also hope you enjoy your last A Rocha veggies of the year and look forward to sharing more vegetables with you next season!
