'Kraut season has arrived!

Posted on August 24th, 2021 by Carly Richardson

On the farm this week the melons are wrapping up and the final few will be available as extras but luckily as we sadly say goodbye to our daily melon breaks, we get to say hello to an abundance of sweet peppers! They are incredibly refreshing and sweet and perfect for crudité boards, pasta sauces and fajitas! This will also be our first week for leeks in addition to the other delicious alliums - fresh garlic and sweet onions! And some of our favorite greens available again such as arugulabok choimustard and tah tsai!

We are continuing to offer dill pickling kits for just a few more weeks and now are also offering salsa verde kits containing tomatillos, garlic, onions, cilantro and hot peppers! So check those out in the add ons!

And were most excited to announce that starting this week we have SAURKRAUT! In collaboration with farmer Paul we whipped up a big batch different krauts a few weeks ago and now they're ready for the eating! We have Dilly Kraut and Delux Kraut and Krautchi available to add onto your CSA this week! They are $10 a jar so get them while you can!

This week we said goodbye to our summer interns, we are so thankful for them and all they have brought to the farm with their energy, great questions, unique perspectives and hard work. We also got to enjoy watching them present their summer projects/reflections this week, and I wanted to share one with you all that Britt, one of our interns created.

You may remember that I sent out a survey a few weeks ago with some questions Britt had for our CSA community about how you use your produce and your experience in the CSA. A huge thanks fo those who were able to participate - she had a lovely time connecting with you. Britt is currently studying illustration and design, and so with the information some of you shared with her she put together some beautiful illustrative pieces. She has allowed me to share with you and so I have attached them below for you to enjoy hearing a bit more about each other.
