Farm Happenings for September 4, 2020

Posted on September 2nd, 2020 by Paul Neufeld

Famer Paul here...  This time last week I was heading out for 3 nights of camping with family and friends.  Last week's harvest went smoothly in my absence - 3 cheers for Jenn, Andrea, Hannah and the extra volunteers who pitched in!  It was so good to be in a beautiful and peaceful place away from the farm, to swim in cool water, to read a book, to sing by a campfire, gaze at the stars and enjoy the company of people I love!   I return feeling refreshed for the home stretch of cool, damp mornings, cover crop planting, farm clean up and heavy lifting (winter squash in our future!) in these final 8 weeks of CSA goodness!

We have a small supply of garlic!  I was able to secure some good hard-neck garlic (Red Russian) from Similkimeen Nurseries.  Certified organic - it is for sale in 1 pound bags.  The photo is of 1 lb. of this garlic - roughly 6 or 7 heads.

If you missed ordering sauerkraut last week, that batch was snapped up very quickly but there will be more coming soon.
