Sourdough French Toast

Sourdough French Toast
Recipe adapted from The Spruce Eats

Servings: 1

Ingredients

4 large eggs
1 cup heavy cream
3 tbsp granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
8 slices stale sourdough bread
1/4 cup (4 tbsp) butter, divided, for cooking
Maple syrup, bananas, and walnuts, for serving

Instructions

Add the eggs, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to a dish and whisk to combine.

Fully submerge each piece of bread in the liquid, allowing them to soak for about three minutes on each side.

As the bread soaks, heat a skillet on medium heat and add about 1-2 tablespoons of butter. Place the soaked bread on the melted butter, and cook for about two minutes on each side (or until golden brown.) Repeat for the remaining slices of bread.

Drizzle with maple syrup, bananas, and walnuts, and enjoy!
