Farm Happenings for March 12, 2024

Posted on March 8th, 2024 by John Zilnicki

First week of March is in the books and it was a soggy one.  Our little ponds on the farm are way past their high tide lines.

Farmer Jackie had a lengthy/complicated surgery this week and the team at Stony Brook Hospital did an amazing job.  She has a tough road of recovery ahead but she will dominate.  All of the thoughts and prayers were felt and greatly appreciated!

Our cover crops (annual ryegrass) that we plant in the fall to protect our fields over the winter has sprung back to life, and is a beautiful green and that only means we are getting closer to spring.  I also so my first woodchuck of the season this week.  Incase you didn't know those little rascals are our enemies even though they look cute.  They cause a tremendous amount of damage and loss and are actually quiet nasty and will bite you with you corner them (I learned the hard way).

Have a great weekend!

Your farmer,

John

P.S. stay tuned this week for some info about some awesome Giveaways we will be running for the end of this month!!
