Farm Happenings for July 14, 2020

Posted on July 11th, 2020 by John Zilnicki

Hope you are doing GREAT?! Another eventful week on the farm; continuing irrigation of crops, missed by a tropical storm, battling the deer, in awe at the gorgeous cut flowers you will be receiving this week.  Farming/gardening is a delicate dance with mother nature and she always is the leader of the dance.  It is up to us to react and make the best decisions to keep up with her ebbs and flows.  It one of the finest arts their is.

This week we start out Cut Flower Shares and Fruit Shares!!!!!

Like I said before, the cut flowers are absolutely stunning!  We grow all our own flowers and a lot of work goes into them.  A little advice with fresh flowers, change the water daily with fresh cold water to keep them vibrant.  Also, try to keep them out a window or direct sunlight as this will help them wilt.

Farm Happenings:

  • Fall plantings continue!!
  • Our sweet corn is almost ready!!! (Finally!) Late spring frost is one of the culprits.
  • Our war on the deer intensifies as we protect our crops!

Keep posting those meals!  We love seeing the amazing meals you make with the produce you get!

Enjoy your weekend and week!
