Farming In August
One of the hardest months for Farmers. The field sure has been wet and has definitely affected the produce this last week. All the rain and cooler weather is great for some, but for others not so much. We take what Mother Nature gives us and push through.

Is it Fall already? No, just Missouri Weather
Cooler weather this week is a welcome break from the heat! Long sleeve shirts and pants for all of us working in the field & days like this we could work all day long.
This week we are planting more lettuce, beets, radish, turnips and a few more flowers.

Summer Time
The harvest of tomatoes this year has been the best one yet! Over a 100 pounds coming in daily. Hope everyone is enjoying the tastes of summer(we have eaten a BLT everyday this week)! The heat is on...
Blazing hot and some of our cool weather crops are trying to hang on, but the color in the fields are just amazing! And what grows great in the heat? TOMATOES
Yes, they have arrived for the season and we are over the moon about this, because for us, we only eat the tomatoes we grow and when they are gone we have to wait until they are ready the next season! We are growing several heirloom varieties, slicers, cherries and paste sauce tomatoes.

Half Way Through with the Season
This is Week 10 Share coming to you. Lots of work going on in the fields and the Green House. What's Happening Here
Hello from your Farmers! We are sure enjoying the sunshine and hot weather. Lots of activity on the farm over the last week. Gravel was put in around all the high tunnels and it looks so nice. We can't wait for you all to see it (we are currently working on that, so stay tuned).

Week 7
In Farm News: kid goats are still trying to over take the farm, flowers are starting to bloom, Goldmine zucchini is new in the share this week and broccoli heads!

About the farm
Winslow’s Farm is located in Augusta, Mo. on an old hog farm settled in the 1800's by German immigrants. The 5 acre growing field is tucked away in a valley surrounded by rolling hills blessed with old growth trees and rich Missouri bottomland soil. Since 2005 this land has been nurtured and planted using time honored organic and natural farming principles & practices. Chickens graze in the surrounding pastures, raised for eggs and pest control, rotating fields with a herd of goats and our horse Red. The large variety of annual and perennial fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs are grown seasonally for our CSA members and select restaurants in the St Louis metropolitan area. Seed crop varieties are selected for their taste and ability to withstand pest and disease pressure. Late winter seeds are started in the green house before planting in succession on the growing field. The fields are irrigated with well water, where crops are tended closely and hand harvested daily for peak flavor.
The 100 year old structures have been carefully retrofitted for todays needs, but clean up beautifully for private events throughout the spring and summer months.
