Farm Happenings for June 9, 2021

Posted on June 4th, 2021 by Shelli and Paul Meulemans

Dog days of Spring!

Remember last weekend? We had frost, but just a tiny bit. It served as reminder to us how fragile farming can be. We try our best to make our farm resilient, but alas the whims of nature will often leave us feeling helpless. What does it mean to make our farm resilient?

Just like in investing, we try to have plenty of variety so when crop failures occur there are others to fill in. Just like it’s smart to have different types of investments, we try to grow a wide range of vegetables for each of you.  In any given year, some crops will be abundant and others not; there’s pros and cons to every kind of weather; and our four different locations will vary in productivity.

If you’re unhappy with something in your box, please don’t hesitate to shoot us an email so that we can make it right with you. We try our best to make every box excellent, but sometimes product of unacceptable quality makes it in there. Thank you for another week!

Please let us know if you are missing any items or have any errors in your box. We try our best to estimate yields but sometimes we are short on some items and have to substitute with the most similar items and at least the same value of the item you had requested. This happens as we harvest everything fresh for you and it’s not already sitting in the cooler when we finalize the shares! Thanks for your understanding.
P.S. please leave your box out for us to grab/return it!
