CSA WEEK 11

Posted on August 10th, 2021 by Lacey Arnold

As you may have noticed, this season is proving to be a bit different than last year. While some crops have been thriving, the weather has certainly put a damper on the overall abundance of the summer. We received over a foot of rainfall during the month of July alone, which has affected everything from the size of our produce to the mold and other pests that take hold in moist environments.

Farmer Dave was recently interviewed for a front-page article in the local newspaper that highlights the challenges that we and other farms in our area have been facing as a result of the growing conditions this season. As Dave says, “When it’s super dry, you can always add water – you can’t take it away.” The full article can be found here.

While the dampness has been detrimental to farms’ harvests, there is always the silver lining that we aren’t experiencing a severe drought or blazing wildfires. We are endlessly grateful for the kindness and understanding that you all as members have shown as we find a way to put together our shares each week. Thank you all for being here with us this season; your support is what keeps us going.
