CSA WEEK 12

Warner Farm is a Winner!

Freshly announced just today by Charlie Baker and the State of Massachusetts; Warner Farm is officially a VERY proud recipient of a grant that will allow us to build a brand new packing house facility as well as buy a brand new refrigerated box truck! We are overjoyed with this news and with the idea of changes on our farm that will (hopefully) be ready and in place for the 2021 season!

This money was awarded from the Food Security Infrastructure Grant Program put forth by the EEA (Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs) and the State of Massachusetts. The goal of this grant was to ensure that individuals and families throughout the Commonwealth have access to food, with a special focus on food that is produced locally and equitable access to food. The program also seeks to ensure that us farmers, fisherman and other local food producers are better connected to a strong, resilient food system to help mitigate future food supply and distribution disruption.

This year has presented many challenges to our country specifically due to COVID19 and access to food. We all saw first hand how scary it can be when we depend on large scale food systems, but they break down or collapse due to unstable conditions and panic. As farmers we have been more dedicated than ever this year trying to meet the demand for local food in our communities. Our CSA, now over a decade old, grew from 300 members in 2019 to over 600 members this 2020 season! Folks understand the importance of buying locally and we are rising to the occasion, dedicated to continuing to feed our community when they need us most. This grant will provide us with new space and means to wash, pack, and distribute vegetables to all of our amazing CSA members, our wholesale customers, our neighbors, our friends, and our families. We are incredibly grateful and incredibly excited for this money and for the support of farms by Massachusetts. We can't wait to get building!
