Farm Happenings for September 6, 2023

Posted on September 4th, 2023 by Trent Loewen

I hope you’re having a great Labour Day weekend!

All this smoke is being a little challenging, with our eyes stinging as we work, and even the plants don’t grow much with the smoke blocking the sunlight. But we carry on, doing the best we can in the circumstances.

This week we’re harvesting sweet onions, they’re milder and sweeter than the yellow onions. There’s also some really nice salad turnips, even if the tops are somewhat eaten by grasshoppers. Next week we should have radishes and broccoli ready to go in your box.

Your box will be built automatically with only produce in it but everything else is available to swap in. Besides the produce, there is beef from Barnes Creek Ranch, pastured chicken, fresh baking, handmade soap from The Sudsy Llama, pickles, and our homemade ranch dressing.

As always, if you have any trouble with swapping or anything else, you’re welcome to call/text or email. Trent - 306-883-8832, Lois - 306-883-9289. Also the folks at Harvie are happy to help, reach them at support@harvie.farm.

Have a great week!
