Farm Happenings for January 11, 2020

Posted on January 5th, 2020 by Jack Manix

Although there's still a long way to go until our dog, Pepper, can steal an ear of corn from the daily picking, the process to grow that corn begins now. We're planning next year's crops by reviewing the seed catalogs and getting the orders done. We just did the sweet corn and peas but still have a lot of heirloom tomatoes and hot peppers to consider for the spring lineup. In a couple of weeks we'll be seeding down tomatoes for the greenhouse!

This is the last week of our fall/winter CSA but the Deep Winter CSA will start next Saturday if you'd like to continue enjoying organic vegetables for another 4 weeks. The cost is $100 and will be exclusively Walker Farm greens and storage vegetables. There's still some room on the sign-up list if you're interested, just let us know.

Thanks so much for supporting our farm and crew once again! We're fortunate to live in a  community that values local food and agriculture. 2020 promises to be an amazing year for us as just about all last year's great crew will be returning and we're excited about the upcoming season. Hope you have a happy and healthy New Year!
