Farm Happenings for January 4, 2020

Posted on December 29th, 2019 by Jack Manix

All of the Walker Farm fruits and vegetables are Certified Organically grown. Each year we go through a 5-6 hour inspection by Vermont Organic Farmers that examines our records, fields, greenhouses and overall farm practices to make sure we are complying with the official National Organic Practices. Each spring we spend about 3 hours filling out our organic application for the coming year detailing what crops we will grow and how we will grow them. It's not an easy process and not everyone wants to go through it. Lots of farms claim to grow "naturally" or "sustainably" but you can be sure that Certified Organic farms are the only ones that truly pass the test.

Next Saturday will be pick-up number 5 for the winter CSA. If you'd like to continue receiving fresh, organic produce after week 6, we will be starting our Deep Winter CSA on January 18, 2020. There will be 3 additional pick-ups on 1/25, 2/1 & 2/8 for a total of four. The cost will be $100. The shares will be set selections of Walker Farm produce and not through the Harvie system. There's a limit of 50 shares available so participation will be on a first come, first served basis. Please let us know if you'd like to continue. Hopefully the weather will be as cooperative as it has been so far!

Reminder - if you are unable to pick up your share on Saturday please call 802.254.2476 to schedule a Sunday or Monday visit between noon and 1 PM if possible. Thanks so much for supporting our farm and crew!
