Farm Happenings for August 17, 2021

Posted on August 12th, 2021 by Shiloh Avery

Well July and the first week or so of August were wild rides, but I appear to have most of my technology issues worked out (I've got access to email again!) and we're feeling great about being fully staffed again with Jeremy solidly on board.  Just in time for peppers to take over our lives!  With sweet corn coming down the mountain (and hopefully no more shortages!), it's time for some succotash!  Peppers are my favorite food, so this is always my favorite time of year to eat!  For someone who doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, I sure love the sweet "veggies"!  And in case we get buried in work again, they don't even need any cooking! :)  Salad mix also returns this week and is hopefully here to stay although we haven't been perfect in the timing of our plantings.  We're planting like mad for fall and even some things for winter (we have decided to grow over the winter again so we can keep two people employed--our eventual goal is to have a working commercial kitchen in the winter so we can keep more people employed year round.  When you get such a good crew, you'll do anything to keep them!)

Have a great week and happy veggie eating!
