Farm Happenings for August 10, 2021

Posted on August 5th, 2021 by Shiloh Avery

Welcome to your 15th week of eating fresh local organic seasonal produce!  Enter Fishel Organics sweet corn from Ashe county!  The season has been flying by for us here at the farm as we've been short staffed for a while now.  But we welcomed Jeremy to the farmily this week and Kaitie has come back to help us a couple days a week and at farmers market and we have another person starting part time next week.  The relief is palpable around here (that and the fact that it cooled down about 20 degrees this week!)

As we near the 3/4 way marker, I want to make sure you know your options for vacation credits.  If you are on the pay weekly plan-no sweat, you weren't charged for any weeks your share was on vacation.  If you pre-paid in full or are on the 25%/25%/50% plan, we can turn any held weeks into vacation credits.  Unfortunately, this is not among the vast array of improvements the Harvie geeks have made to the technology so I still need to do this manually.  This isn't a problem except that we pack over 200 boxes per week and I can't remember left from right or up from down at the end of the week so I'll need you to tell me to do this via email.  If you simply rescheduled your held share, that's great!  This is if you have outstanding held shares that you wish to turn into credits (not sure?  Just ask!).  If I just confused the heck out of you-let me know that too (I'll try to clarify).  I just don't want to wait until the last weeks since you might want to use your credits for extra sweet corn:)

And just a reminder to return your boxes (the liner is there for food safety so it's yours to keep although no sweat if you want to return it-we use them for trash bags).

Thanks for the best season yet!

Your farmers,

Shiloh, Jason, Mallory, Kelsey, Ethan, Amy, Jeremy, and Kaitie
