Farm Happenings for July 7, 2020

Posted on July 2nd, 2020 by Shiloh Avery

A girl, at the beginning of a story, does not know she’s in a story.  She knows nothing of the characters she will meet along the path and where said path and said characters will take her.  She does not know her path of wanderlust will eventually lead to a beautiful little valley in western North Carolina where she will set down roots both literally and figuratively, where the characters move around her rather than she around them.

Yet the story unfolds, blind to her ignorance of its presence.  And then one day, as she descends into the beautiful little valley on her well worn path and the fading sunlight catches the exhausted rain clouds in a fit of purples and blues as the aged mountains raise behind them and the scene takes her breath away in a well-rehearsed pattern, she realizes that she is, in fact, living in a story.

The story has slowed to the part where a reader might skim, but it is still a story.  Complete with conflicts and triumphs and yes, failures.  But today, the story has paused on a beautiful little valley with fading sun dancing across blue and purple clouds and mountains, highlighting the green gardens of home.
