Farm Happenings for September 16, 2020

Posted on September 16th, 2020 by Jim Coxson

We watched this pumpkin vine go across the path then up the deer fence. It then made it into an old apple tree, which has been renamed the Pumpkin tree. What would be the best if it had time to turn orange.

New for this week are: Delicata squash this is a thin skinned squash, so it is easy to work with. Honeynut squash, a mini butternut. This is the first year growing this one. At the end of the season our saved cherry tomatoes have showed up. We have been saving seed from these for a long time. It is a larger cherry and has more of the classic tomato flavor then the others we grow. It was the sole survivor the first year we got hit with Late Blight, so we felt it earned the right to keep on going.
