Farm Happenings for October 27, 2021

Posted on October 24th, 2021 by Peter Seely

Our potato harvester going full throttle before tonight's predicted rain

This week's offerings:  Lots of peppers coming, but tomatoes are basically done.  Spinach and salad mix are looking slim for the future as well. With a good frost under our belt (last night), kale should be a bit sweeter, and carrots should be tasty, too; those are also available this week.  Some pie pumpkins at the store, in case you wanted to make your own pie, or make a small jack-o-lantern!

Next week:  More Brussels sprouts coming, along with gold potatoes, leeks, scallions, beets, red cabbage, carnival squash, and maybe the last of the peppers and eggplant.

No apples being offered this year -- Dave Bohnhoff's apples did not yield much at all, and Brightonwood Orchard also had a poor crop.  Dave Bohnhoff did have a few pears for us, and those you'll find on the webstore.  And we will be bringing own the frozen blueberries from Michigan as in the past.

Sorry for tardiness -- we wanted to beat the expected rain with the digging of the potatoes, and am just finishing up putting some away now!

Have a good week!  After this week's delivery, 2 regular season deliveries remaining.  (Or one for the every-other-week crowd!)
