Farm Happenings for July 14, 2021

Posted on July 12th, 2021 by Peter Seely

Jennifer Struve and Angela Rivers showcasing some of the green beans they are picking this week!

Great temps this week!

New this week:  fennel, and beets!

The big garlic harvest this week:  8 beds done, 13 to go! Approximately 25,000 bulbs total!

Weeding this week:  sweet potatoes, and brussels sprouts!

Planting this week:  last of the fall broccoli, and cauliflower, and carrots for winter storage

Something to check out:  Real Organic Project (at https://www.realorganicproject.org/)  These folks have come up with a new label to replace the USDA Organic label that has been so watered down, and misrepresentative of true organic farms and farmers. We have become certified with them as well!

Pick-up reminder:  Plan your day to arrive during the pick-up times at your pick-up site!  If by some emergency you can't make it during that time, then you need to contact your pick-up site host before the end of the pick-up period, requesting that he or she holds onto your tote until a future time (to be arranged between you and your host, if possible). If they don't receive such a communication, then it's possible that the contents of your tote will immediately find a new home! Thanks to all of our pick-up sites for allowing members to use their garages, or porches, to retrieve their farm box!

Have a great week!
