BAGGING POTATOES
Here is our 'experienced' crew bagging the potatoes. Since the paper bags absorb moisture fairly readily, and then break apart easily, we usually end up using the nylon mesh bags instead for potatoes.
SOME NEW CROPS COMING UP
Unless we have rainy weather later in the week, we will dig the first of the sweet potatoes for next week's delivery. They look nice! They will continue growing right up until the first frost, but they are big enough now to begin to enjoy them. This week we will cut the tops off of some of the brussels sprouts plants, and then two or three weeks later the first sprouts should be ready for harvest. Some spinach is germinating, so in a few weeks there should be spinach again as well! Red torpedo onions next week! And a different kind of winter squash (for those who like it!) every week for the next 4 weeks!
OCT. 5TH OPEN HOUSE AT FARM
You would be welcome to stop by the farm on Saturday, the 5th of October. Amidst digging potatoes, and/or sweet potatoes, we would be happy to share a pot luck lunch (at 12:30) with you, and then take a brief (or extended!) tour of the farm's fields, and greenhouses. Come anytime between 10 and 4!
