Farm Happenings for June 19, 2019

Posted on June 14th, 2019 by Peter Seely

Welcome to the new season!

Above, our interns Phillip Bartholomew Adrian and Grace Hart are happily showing off the growing garlic and garlic scapes (hiding under Phillips's hat).

With all the rain, and cooler temperatures, planting has gone slowly, but we are gradually catching up!  We have 7 different vegetables ready this week, much less than what we will have later on.  (Mushrooms and maple syrup will be coming soon, too!)  With this e-mail you should be receiving your suggested list for your first box on Wednesday; if you want to make a change in the list, (either swapping one or more of your items, or purchasing anything from the on-line store if available,) you would need to do so by Sunday night (11 pm). Otherwise expect that what is on the list will be in your tote on Wednesday!  Thanks to the Harvie algorithm for figuring out how to distribute what we have ready to all of you, and feel free to log into your Harvie account to change your preferences/ratings whenever you want!  Remember to bring a bag or container to transfer your vegetables into at your pick-up site, because the plastic totes will remain there.  We are looking forward to the new season, and we hope that you will enjoy these first fruits of our labor!  Coming soon:  snap peas, basil, garlic scapes, cucumbers, and celery!  If you ordered eggs, and/or a Greens Share, will find it/them in your tote, along with your veggies, instead of in separate containers at your pick-up site, as in previous years.
