A Message of Community from Sol Sister Farm

Posted on June 4th, 2020 by Matt Johnson

Dear Sol Sisters,

Welcome to the first week of the Sol Sister CSA! First, we want to thank you so much for joining us on this adventure in local eating. The farm is growing and developing quickly and we cannot wait to share Sol Sister with you!

However, as cis-gendered white farmers, we have waited to advertise the CSA this week because we wanted to allow space for black voices and other allies to fill your inboxes and feeds. The earth and her people are hurting right now, but little Sol Sister Farm is shaping into a beautiful space to bring community together and be an example of resilience through food and love. We are so grateful for our family, friends, and members of the community who have volunteered their time to plant peppers, lettuce, eggplant, put down mulch to protect our crops from the heat, or build and paint the packing shed. Sol Sister Farm is truly becoming an example of the Community Supported Agriculture model.

With that being said, we cannot wait to see you on this Saturday, June 6th from 2pm-4pm for pick up(double check your delivery date because it may be next week if you are a biweekly share!) You are welcome anytime during this time period, but we would like to continue to share the farm by offering a farm tour at 3pm.

Make sure to make your box selections by Friday evening and review the Farm Stand for a la carte items like a potted sage or marigold plant. Some of this week's veggies include luscious heads of lettuce, nutritious zucchini and summer squash, and aromatic basil.

All the love,

Matt & Em
