Here is the link to "Well Vittled" our CSA companion!

This week it has become quiet on the farm. The vegetable field work is finished for the season and the cows have come back to the farm for winter. Our staff have mostly been laid off for the winter and we have shifted gears to a more relaxed, off-season pace (for the most part).

This week we have our usual offerings of locally-grown, hand-harvested winter vegetables in your share for you to enjoy. Winter storage staples that we always have are carrots, potatoes, cabbage, parsnip, winter radish and onions. As we move through fall into winter, some fall items like kale, leeks and squash will no longer be available but we will be introducing other items such as frozen green and yellow beans, frozen spinach, pickled items, dried herb bunches and celeriac. Keep an eye out for your favourites over between now and the end of the year.

New Items

This week we are distributing beautiful, organic Empire apples which have dark red skin and white crisp flesh. Empire apples can be eaten fresh, sliced in salads, grated or minced in coleslaw, baked or sauteed. You can swap a bag into your share or you can purchase some as an extra item in your share.

This week we also added new promotional items to Harvie this week, Sleepy G Farm t-shirts and sweatshirts! Limited quantities available. Sizing is unisex and is true to size. As an indication, Brendan wears a large and Marcelle wears a medium.

Finally, we are getting a bit festive and putting together some seasonal décor. Wreathes made from fragrant balsam fir, white pine and yellow cedar are $30 and are perfect for adding your own personal touch or colours. Premium wreathes include red osier dogwood and a burlap bow for $40. Available as an extra this week (and for the next few weeks) in your CSA share or for pickup at the farm.

Swapping Tip:

If an item you want is not showing in Harvie it is likely sold out for the customization period. As members swap and add items, the available inventory changes. If you check back later in the weekend or on Monday (before 8PM) your item may become available.

As always, if you have questions or are having issues with Harvie please do not hesitate to contact us! See you next week!
