Farm Happenings for May 28, 2021

Posted on May 26th, 2021 by Lynne Schultz

Greetings from the farm,

We are super excited that we have strawberries this week. But that is not the only red in the basket week. We have tomatoes. And cucumbers. All the long nights have paid off and we have tomatoes for Memorial Day Weekend. We are super excited about.

We also are excited to see some rain this week. All vegetables need a good drink of water. We did bale straw this week before the rain hit. The straw will be used as bedding on our melon, sweet potato and strawberries this year. We also got all of our field crops planted so atleast something got checked off the list this week. We still have more watermelon, cantaloupe, lettuce, tomatoes, and peppers to transplant but slowly we are getting things done. We also having u-pick Thursday morning and Sunday morning from 8am to noon. Price for strawberries is $2.20 a pound. We will also have more u pick dates next week we just have to see how the berries do after this weekend.

Our family wishes you a safe holiday weekend
