Spring Lush

Posted on May 19th, 2023 by Pedro Aponte

There has not been one single morning in 2023 that I had not worn a sweater when I go out to do early farm chores. I love it, though. And, while some of the crops in the ground don't like these cool mornings, some others are in absolute delight. If there is such a thing a arugula heaven, the Shenandoah Valley must be it these days. It looks astonishingly beautiful in the ground and tastes amazing. And, likewise, the rest of the spring crops are really loving it, even the spring carrots!

We are so excited to start bringing these awesome food to you. The crew has been working diligently planting crops, preparing new fields, moving animals, setting up new equipment. There is never a dull moment at the farm. We are thrilled to welcome back Taylor, Mattias and Jack to the farm crew. We also welcome Tobin, who's very enthusiastic about everything "sustainable agriculture." We are very happy to have Saskia helping out again with chicken processing, and my Dad, who endured a very rough year with health issues last year, is back running the irrigation and keeping the weeds under control. We are blessed.
