Farm Happenings for May 14, 2020

Posted on May 11th, 2020 by Mitch Lawson

This is Annie and a good portion of our chicken flock living large.  Annie and Rossi, our other Great Pyrenees, are absolutely essential to protecting our hens and letting them run around as they please.  They keep coyotes, foxes and wild dogs at bay and even chase down hawks that try to swoop in!

Friday we covered all of our summer crops - peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, squash and cucumbers. It's been a long time since it got this cold in mid May. Unfortunately the forecast still looked warm enough for planting corn and beans last Monday afternoon so I did and then that night the forecast changed to much colder.  Just have to see now if they will sprout and survive. If they don't I will replant.

But this week is looking nice and warm. Good weather coming for planting melons, field peas and more!

Please remember to get the box with your name on the label and get eggs only if they are listed on your label.

Please continue to be safe at pick up and follow CDC guidelines. Wash hands and use hand sanitizer, wear a mask at pick up, social distance and do not congregate in front of the boxes.
