Farm Happenings for March 28, 2020

Posted on March 25th, 2020 by Nate Olive

It has been an interesting time for us and all farmers in the past weeks. We really appreciate your support and are taking every necessary step to ensure you still have access to safe, fresh locally grown food. The rains have been a blessing when usually this is a dry time of year.  Grops are gorwing fast.

In our mission to increase local food capicity in the USVI, we are at a time where we need solutions to our local food system now.  You are playing a huge role in that as a member of our farm share program. Earlier this week, we sent out a survey to learn how we can best serve your needs as well as those other farmers who have lost their markets.  Thanks for replying, over half of our members already have:)  If you haven;;t yet replied, check your email and tell us what you think. Before we start to add other crop options outside of R2R, we'd like to hear from more members in the survey.

We are excited to open up our new drive-thru pick up location at Little La Grange Farm in the turn out west of the entrance to the musuem this week. Please note that the hours are 11am-2pm, which ends one hour less than normal.

This week we will be offering moringa powder, which is a powerful protein-rich plant-based superfood. You can add it to soups, toss across roasted vegetables, or blend it in a fruit smoothie among other endless applications in the kitchen.  It contains vitamin C, A, D, iron, high amounts of calcium, protein, and much more and is great to strengthen immune systems.  Also we are inlcuding immune-system building payapas in every box which can be used in raw salads, juiced, as a meat tenderizer, and so many other ways.

Please enjoy this weeks farm share to it's fullest and stay safe:)
