Ginger goodness

Posted on June 22nd, 2021 by Elizabeth Gallo

Happy rainy Tuesday from the farm crew!

Since October we have (not so sneakily) been growing ginger and it's finally ready for harvest. Last week we harvested our field of ginger and replanted most of it in a new plot to begin the process of developing our ginger culture here on the farm. We decided to include the remaining 10 pounds in our CSA this week and hopefully next, if it makes it through the weekend that is...

Our mangoes are still going strong so we will be keeping the base quantity for those at 2 lbs while supplies last. More varieties are starting to come in so don't be surprised if there's a mix of things within those 2 lbs. Our zucchini crop is apparently trying to compete with our mango orchard for largest producer and once again we have an abundance of squash so the base quantity of that has also been upped to 2 lbs. This zucchini is super tender and delicious and I'm pretty sure I've had it for every meal so far today. If zucchini and mango aren't your thing we've got plenty of other fruits and veggies to go around.

As always we hope everyone has a stellar week and we so look forward to seeing you on Saturday! I heard that our apprentice Dane might be a little lonely at our Farm Tienda on Saturday so make sure to stop on by and let him demonstrate his top notch produce slinging abilities! We have tours of the Laweatz House now available as well as a whole new line of Misfit Islands Munchies frozen goodies that are perfect for beating this summer heat that's creeping in. Even more reason to come say hi!

All the best

Elizabeth
