About those Beans...

Posted on January 27th, 2021 by Nate Olive

There's a wide variety of crops this week again. That is despite the fact the deer ate all of our lettuce. Farm apprentice Matt Hughes is getting creative with the scarecrows and we are throwing everything we can at them and a few other pests.

Sweet crunchy carrots are in this week! Some may be trimmed that had deer nibbles on the tops. There's a huge amount of large fennel heads, and green beans are flourishing. If you haven't tried the beans growing in our 3 Sisters planting, swap for them as they are outstanding fresh or cooked! And there's a LOT. Eat them raw or cooked, no strings!

This is probably the last week for mustard greens due to our little aphid buddies. Tomatoes are getting ready for round 2. Papayas are starting to ripen in limited numbers, and some of the first eggplants of the season are available this week. Parsley is also making a first appearance! And there's even a tiny flush of beets.

Thanks for your support and enjoy this week's organic farm share!

Enjoy the full moon, (the beans are)
