Late Blooming Summer

Posted on September 9th, 2020 by Nate Olive

We have been so blessed with consistent rains again this week. Many fruits like carambola, avocadoes, genips, and late season mangoes are showing signs of an extended fruit season for now and later. Tamarinds and passion fruit vines are offering their showy flowers. Guavaberry trees are starting to lace themselves in white blooms. Have you ever seen a soursop flower? They are also in the current flower party.

Deer are the primary suspect in who's been eating the zucchini flowers.  It's under investigation. Fortunately, the plants still pumped out ample plump pounds of fruits.  Watermelons were pulled in a final harvest of the summer crop. Okra is going crazy. The greens are not wasting any time. Remember to use the swap feature to get your best box. There are a lot of options in our crop inventory.

As the summer season winds down to a close in several weeks (Sept 26th is the final share), it's a good time to review your membership preferences to make sure "auto-renew" is "on "if you want to join our next season before it's open to the public.  Dates will be announced in a couple of weeks. Nothing has been finalized yet. Please give us your feedback on what you think about the timeframe. We'd love to hear from you as we plan.

Remember to pass by our Farm Tienda on Saturday. Please enjoy your share of the lush late summer to its fullest:)
