Rains and bumping crops

Posted on June 10th, 2020 by Nate Olive

We have had a surprise blessing of heavy rains in the past few days that have brought a much needed push for the crops we are growing for our Farm Share community. Lately, in the dusty dryness, it's been such an effort to keep crops even minimally watered.  It has been a daunting task to put new seeds in the ground knowing the challenges ahead for them. And then, it rained. And it rained a lot. We all have truly been blessed.

Beans are now bursting out, turnip are plumping out to great proportions, radishes are glowing red, kale and chards are reaching towards the sky, and mangoes and pineapples are bursting at the seams.  Starfruit are making a comeback.  All of the crops -and the weeds- are rejoicing.

Inside the greenhouse, where the crops are protected from the elements, cucumbers are making a strong showing this week and young tomato plants planted in succession are putting on their first fruits for later weeks to come. Our staff are working hard to keep up with all the growth and harvesting daily. We have double the amount of crops we need.  Please feel free to spread the word about our Farm Shares:)

We hope you enjoy this weeks hard-earned shares. Please tell a friend to join as a seasonal member or on the Farm Stand, as we have many extra boxes available this week and in the months to come.

Blessings and peace in the garden,

Nate & the Farm Crew
