Farm Happenings for August 28, 2019

Posted on August 26th, 2019 by Merridy Senior

Hello Everyone,

We have some news to tell everyone and the "Farm Happenings" may not be the best spot to send this to you but we wanted to tell everyone here in case we don't get a chance to talk at the pick up this week.

We first off want to send out a huge thank you to everyone who has taken part of our CSA program, we are truly grateful for your support. Second, we have some news that is difficult to tell everyone, but now that we have decided, we don’t want to put it off. We wanted to let you know that we have made the decision to not carry on with our CSA program next year. We hate to disappoint anyone, but we have been reviewing our farm operations and are looking to make some changes. Unfortunately the changes we would like to make with the market garden will make it difficult to carry on with the CSA program. One change is to really scale back on the variety of produce we are growing and increase the volume of what we are going to carry on growing. This would not allow for much variety of what we could offer for weekly shares. At the beginning of this year we decided that to make it worthwhile we needed to really up the amount of shares that we had, and now getting close to the end of the season, we have reassessed that we feel running a larger CSA program is not a good fit for us and where we are looking to take the business. Again we can’t say enough of how much we appreciate everyone’s support by being a part of our CSA. We love hearing all the positive comments about our produce and this has been a hard decision to make. It has been a great experience for us over the last 5 years and we have learned so much. In the end we can’t hold onto the program for the fear of disappointing anyone, although still hard to break the news, we have learned over the years that we need to do what feels right and what is going to work best for the direction we want to take the farm.
And not to concern anyone, we will be finishing this CSA season through to the end!

Thank you for your understanding,
Merridy and Eben
