Farm Happenings for November 20, 2021

Posted on November 21st, 2021 by Ben Sayler

Greetings from the Farm! We had a bonfire and dinner last weekend with our employees to celebrate the bounty this season and enjoy each other's company outside of work. Stephanie randomly snapped the above pic of us before heading outside and got all of us looking at the camera on the first try, which is quite the feat! It was a great time and feel so fortunate to work with people that I consider good friends. It makes the world of difference for the farm, myself, and our helpers when we enjoy each other's company and can have fun together!

Hope all is well with you and thank you so much for your continued support through the colder season. We are looking forward to Thanksgiving with lots of local food on the table. We have many of the traditional staples for you, including potatoes and sweet potatoes, apples (granny smith are awesome for pie!), collards, fall squashes (butternut is actually used for the 'pumpkin' pie filling in the cans in store!), onions, and more. This is a special time of year on the farm when we are slowing down, reflecting on the past, on planning for the future.

We have lots of items this week, including new pears and apples from Catoctin Orchard, and shallots from 78 Acres. Lots of extras available also, including new sausage flavors! Heather makes a 'stuffing' with sausage every Thanksgiving. It is always a family favorite and basically a meal on its own.

We say what we are thankful for (both during thanksgiving and at least once a week at the dinner table), and my customers and our lifestyle has been on the list since we started the farm 8 years ago. You mean so much to us and we couldn't do it without your support.

Much love from the PHP crew!
