Shoulder Season is Approaching

Posted on June 8th, 2021 by Ben Sayler

The warm weather is here to stay and that means summer produce season is fast approaching! We refer to this time of year as a shoulder season. The cool weather loving crops will soon be finished and will not return until the weather cools back down in the fall. Summer crops will begin to mature with the first of them being squash, cucumbers, and beans. Next up will be potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and more! Part of the fun of eating local with us is experiencing the specific seasonality of crops in our climate.

We hired several new helpers last week. With enough hands to get everything harvested and ready for your CSA share, we were able to catch up on some projects. These included pruning and staking the tomato field, putting up a large shelter, weeding, planting, and more! The new farm is proving to be very productive and it feels good to be growing so much healthy food for everybody!

Lots of new items on the menu this week. Please be sure to scroll through the extras and customize your share for the best expereince.
