Farm Happenings for September 26, 2020

Posted on September 20th, 2020 by Ben Sayler

We have over 70 different items on the menu this week! Please make sure your preferences are filled out and you are customizing your share.

Fall is in the air! The fall equinox or first day of fall was on Tuesday. Do you celebrate the change of seasons? These seasonal days have become celebrations in our home. The cooler temperatures remind us of the year behind us and the fall harvest still to come. Plants and trees begin to slow down. The fall equinox marks a time of balance as the day has an equal length of both day and night. After this day, the nights will become longer than the days. Take time on Tuesday to note the balance in your life - what is in balance and is there anything out of balance that may need your attention?

Our new flock of chickens is taking time to acclimate and we are still short on eggs. We have reached out to our friends at Harmony Springs Farm for more eggs to provide to you. Harmony Springs Farm is located in Middletown and co-owned by sisters, Dani and Sabrina Summers. Ben went to high school with these ladies and they take very good care of their animals. We also have more pork to order, which is from hogs born and pasture-raised on their farm. Prices have gone down slightly and we will pass the savings on to you! Products include ground pork, Daves blend (breakfast type), daves blend hot, breakfast, sage, bratwurst, spare ribs, baby back ribs, bacon, boston butt, picnic roast, boneless and bone in chops, ham steaks.

We have many new items on the menu this week, including Napa Cabbage and Arugula. Please take the time to scroll through the extras for the best CSA experience!

Farm Extras shares will be getting a jug of apple cider this week.
