Welcome to the Final Week of Oxen Hill Farm Summer CSA 2021! ( week of October 18, 2021)

Posted on October 16th, 2021 by Lisa Griffin

Every year, it is bittersweet to write the concluding newsletter of the summer season. While we look forward to the slower pace of the seasons of preparing the soil to rest for the winter, then planning, and eventually planting for the 2022 harvest, we do miss the weekly interactions that we are privileged to share with you each week as you pick up your food.  We are truly honored that you have chosen to share your family’s table with our family this season and hope that you have enjoyed the fresh, local organic produce we have grown for you.

This season has been a few steps closer to “normal,” and we were happy to have folks packing their own shares at pick ups, while maintaining the parking spots for those that preferred a contact-less pick up.  The weather though continued to bring many extremes and it’s hard to even know what is “normal” weather anymore. With multiple named storms with a few hurricanes thrown in, we saw more rain this summer than in several preceding seasons combined.   We are grateful to have had abundant greens, garlic, onions, peas and carrots, and we are excited about all the Irish and sweet potatoes as well as late season lettuce.

It is especially exciting to be able to see you a few more times, should you choose to participate in the Autumn CSA!  Current Summer CSA members will NOT be automatically renewed for the Autumn CSA (nor next summer), so if you haven't signed up yet, please act quickly to ensure your space!

We will send information before the end of the year about the details of the 2022 Summer CSA plans as well as a chance to give us some feedback on the 2021 Summer season.

Our family is truly grateful to have the opportunity to grow local certified Organic food for your family and hope to continue to do so in the future!

Please remember that all produce has been grown outside and may have been rinsed after harvest, but will need to be thoroughly washed and cleaned before use by you and often refrigerated at home.
