Welcome to Oxen Hill Farm CSA Week 12 Summer 2021! ( Sept 6, 2021)

Posted on September 3rd, 2021 by Lisa Griffin

There’s no doubt about it, this has been one of the toughest growing seasons in New England in most farmers’ memories, with the meteorological statistics to back that up. Several CSAs in our state have declared full catastrophe and will not be able to offer future shares.  Many of you have been so kind to express your caring and concern after this latest round of heavy rains and flooding, and some have asked if there is any way to help.

Yes, you can!

Please continue to be as patient and flexible as you always are!  There are so many things that we have planted that have not materialized to harvest, and it is heartbreaking to see that hard work and investment literally washed away in the fields.  If you are inspired to take it a step farther, maybe consider adding Extra items to your cart when you could use them, and perhaps try out some of the jarred items we have available!   (Isn’t it crazy to think that last year we were in such a severe drought?!)

As a farm family full of educators, students, and parents, our hearts and minds are with all the families returning to school and work in one way or another in the coming days and weeks.  If you find that your schedule for CSA pick up needs to be changed, we are happy to accommodate, and this link can help you switch in the Harvie system https://harvie.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001542514-How-to-reschedule-change-a-delivery-location-and-hold-a-share-

This will be the final week of pre-picked flowers or bouquets for our flower share members. We hope you have enjoyed them this summer and we plan to invite flower and bouquet CSA share members to adventure carefully into the Suffield farm flower fields during regular CSA hours to pick your own flowers for the next two weeks after this week; being mindful of course of the muddy, uneven footing in the rows, signage for restricted areas, as well as  COVID-19 protocols for masks and distancing.   Please keep in mind that even outside of our farm growing season Sheri and Sarah are able to offer custom designed floral pieces for your special events; you can reach out by emailing flowers@oxenhillfarm.com or calling Sheri at 860 214-5104 for more information!
