Farm Happenings for August 11, 2020

Posted on August 7th, 2020 by Lisa Duff

Here's a picture of Alex mulching the pathways of the recently planted strawberries. They have taken nicely planted just 2 weeks ago from bare roots and are now flowering. It's important to pick the flowers off this year as we want the plants to focus on their root production. They will be better able to grow bigger, healthier strawberries next spring! We planted 1000 plants total. One variety is one of the earliest varieties, they other, ideally, will come in 2 weeks later. We'll see next year!

Bread share this week will be Simple Country. Cheese share is Colby. Fruit is cantaloupe - the last week.

We have some Certified Organic sweet potatoes this week from Siwik family farms.  Ours aren't quite ready to harvest yet-but soon!

More tomatoes, eggplant and peppers coming your way. Make some Ratatouille!

Thank you!
