Farm Happenings for August 18, 2020

Posted on August 14th, 2020 by Lisa Duff

Did I mention that last week, week 11, marks the half way point for Main Season CSA?  Some of you have been with us since April, others started in May, some began in June. There is a Fall share, just 4 weeks of November. It is filling up fast so those of you who would like to extend the season please sign up today. We need and appreciate new members but our long standing members are our bread and butter and I don't want you to miss out on the November share. You'll see winter squash, lots of greens, potatoes, sweet potatoes, garlic, turnips, beets and carrots. Those shoulder seasons do repeat themselves for our signature salad mixes, arugula and spicy mix.

Speaking of which...we have some arugula and spicy mix to offer this week! We planted lettuce today and with cooler temps we're hopeful of it's survival! It's been a rough go for the salad mix in the heat and I know most of you are looking forward to seeing it again. Patience, water, care and cooler temps will fill your CSA bags once again with our gorgeous, nutrient dense super fresh young greens!

NOW it's tomato season!  And BASIL (pictured above), peppers, eggplant, spaghetti squash and leeks this week!

Bread share will be Walnut Date this week.

Extra bread share will be small Multiseed.

Cheese will be garlic chive.

Fruit share will be watermelon and/or peaches.

We can all be thankful for a cooling down this week!

Cheers!
