Week 14 Update!

Posted on August 27th, 2022 by Katherine Nietmann

Welcome to Week 14!

The cool weekend weather is a welcome break for us, but the heat loving crops couldn't care less; they're unstoppable!  We're quite proud of our giant, fully colored, shiny north Idaho bells! They'll be around for another month of so, so enjoy them while they're here and consider making romesco sauce (we use this recipe from Dishing Up the Dirt author Andrea Bemis) to savor their flavor in the colder months.

Our snacking peppers are also going off like firecrackers and we're now selling them in larger bags - 12oz.  New this week are pickling cucumbers, sold in 3# bags.  Baby arugula and mustard greens are back on the menu, as are banana peppers (which make great pepperoncini!). Paste tomatoes and bulk basil are also available for your preserving pleasure.  We're doing batches of pickles, pepperoncini and tomato sauce over the weekend!

Finally, here are some pics from the week:

Spring Mix cranking like always thanks to our carefully planned planting dates.

The first of the red sunflowers have started blooming.

Found this scene in the leeks the other day...someone's excited about fall crops!

Stay cool and enjoy the produce!
