Finally Slowing Down!

Posted on November 13th, 2021 by Katherine Nietmann

Welcome to Farm Stand for 11/17 Delivery!

This week we breathed a huge sigh of relief.  We always think we can start slowing down as soon as the weather turns, usually in mid-October, but this year has been different.  We've had some crew changes, the warm October kept things cranking longer than normal (not a bad thing!), and with our daughter around, we simply get less done on the farm on a daily basis.  Our long to-do list kept staying stagnant.

This week, we had a new crew member start, we completed our last in-ground plantings of 2021, and we have just a few small items left on our Fall to-do list, including "plant house weeds" (ugh) and "farm clean up" (double ugh).  We will now pick away at clean up, and our main focus will be simply getting produce harvested, cleaned and out the door each week.  We anticipate many weeks ahead of hanging out with our baby, baking bread, house projects, and laying the groundwork for a successful 2022 season.  Phew!

All of our fresh greens and radishes are looking stellar right now, and we suggest you snatch them up because they won't be around all winter!  Arugula, baby mustards, Asian greens and radishes are only around until we run out of them; they don't regrow and we don't replant until late winter.  Microgreens and shoots will be around every week.

Enjoy the produce, eat well and share often.
