July Challenges

Week 8 Update!

We rarely write about our farming challenges or how hard it can be to grow beautiful food, preferring to focus on the positive side of farming and bring a dose of uplifting news to you each week.  However it would be remiss not to let you all know that Spencer broke his arm last Sunday and we are facing a challenging season ahead!

He fell off a ladder while working on building an addition onto our cabin, and we're ever so thankful that the accident wasn't any worse.  He had surgery and is now on the mend, but it could be a months-long healing process until he's able to work at full speed again.  Together with our crew, we've re-prioritized work on the farm to get the bare essentials done, and the good news is that absolutely nothing will change in our CSA!  We will continue to bring you top notch produce for the remaining weeks of the season.  We're feeling optimistic and getting creative with baby care and farm work, and needless to say, work on our house is on pause which means we have more relaxed weekends to spend together!

This week we're introducing eggplant, and we would like to highlight shishito peppers, which are coming into full swing and are a true summer treat.  Try them blackened whole on a grill, sliced and stir fried in a wok, grilled on kebabs...they have a mild heat unless you happen to get a spicy one.

Stay safe out there and as always eat well!
