Farm Happenings for September 4, 2023 - the kale edition

When it comes to nutrition, the gals just seem to know stuff.

If i am experiencing one health issue or another and do a Google search, there's typically a diet change recommended.  Sure enough, when I go to work at the airport and I scope out all the married guys as they eat their 'wife-packed' lunch....there it is.  Broccoli, low fat yogurt, high fibre - no gluten bread and all the like.  I know my work mates pretty well and I can assure you that they did not make this decision all on their own.

As I watch the big man pull out a green, give it a long hard look of contempt and then dutifully put it in his mouth, it is clear this was not a decision made solo.

Kale is absolutely one that ranks high on the gal vs guy list. Just say the word in front of the woman of the household in March and her eyes sparkle with delight at the thought.  "ohhhhh honey! he's got K A L E" they exclaim in delight, barely able to contain themselves from clapping. The smarter males in this situation quickly reply with a forced enthusiasm, "that's great hon".

For those you who don't know, Kale is a nutrition superstar due to the amounts of vitamins A, B6, C, K, folate, fiber, carotenoids and manganese it contains.

The ol' addage, 'you are what you eat' is well proven and so it seems that the gals are intuitively on the inside track of what to seek out. This is why we grow an entire double bed of it!

So guys....eat your kale and like it! (lol) The good news is, we have lots more than kale in the share this week so as always, you are welcome to customzie and swap it out...when the Mrs. isn't looking :-P

Enjoy!
