Farm Happenings for October 18, 2022 - The Blessed Harvest

Posted on October 15th, 2022 by Mike Milsom

One of the great priviliges of the season is to play a part in someone else's act of generosity.

This past Thanksgiving two CSA members approached us independently asking if they could purchase an amount of vegetables and have us donate them to a Foodbank of our choosing. We approached https://www.highjinxottawa.com/  because to our mind they are very sincere, physically responsible and incredibly affirming when it comes to interacting with those in need.

Friday was delivery day and the warmth of the reception and the genuine excitement around our vegetables was very moving.

We know that for the most part people sign up with us because...well...they want fresh organic vegetables...and oh 'look' they deliver.

But the the truth is...whether you care about this or not...by participating in our season, you play a significant part of something that is so much greater than sum of our parts that wouldn't be possible without you. This particularily applies to the many of you that came and volunteered this season. Never before had we had so many folk, who worked so willingly. Very special.

So thank you.

We are in the process of developing the 2023 season and it will be released shortly. Please stay tuned for details and pay attention to our emails if you are so interested.

Huge harvest sales are being held here at our farm store both today and next Saturday between 10 to 4.

This week's share, which is the last of our 16 week season, debuts Hakurei Turnip. Very tender and sweet. The size of a large radish and great raw for snacking, salads or sauteing as a side dish.

Enjoy :-)
