Farm Happenings for the week of July 12, 2022 - Introducing Linh

Posted on July 9th, 2022 by Mike Milsom

One of the many gifts of running a farm are all the interesting people that you get to meet and work alongside with along the way. We thought it might be interesting for you, vicariously through the Farm Happenings to meet some of the very skilled people who are working hard behind the scenes to help grow your vegetables. The first through the door, as our nursery seedling and greenhouse person was Linh. It is a very important role that requires a lot of attention to what is going out to the field and when the trays have to be strong and ready to do so.

We were very excited to have Linh join the farm team because of her multitude of strengths and skills that are in her personal toolbox. She quickly proved herself as a hardworking, eager to learn and caring person.  She is a very deep study with degrees in Food Science from Carleton University and in Holistic Nutrition. She has taken her passion of an integrated approach to diet and lifestyle to another level offering her knowledge and experience to those who seek it and are wanting learn more.

Linh is now the Farm Lead and so in addition to her other responsibilities, also works with the rest of the staff to help keep things running smoothly. She is keeping a keen eye making sure we are all drinking our water and eating healthy snacks! Without further ado, here is Linh talking a bit more about herself and her experience and for our part we couldn't be more appreciative of all that she is and does for the farm :-)

We hope you enjoy this week's share.

~Michael

Hi everyone! I want to first extend a big thank you to Michael for the opportunity to be a part of the farm’s 2022 CSA season. I was a CSA member last year and as the universe would have it, I’ve become a part of the farm team this year. Both my academic background in food science and holistic nutrition and my desire to reconnect with Mother Earth has naturally merged into my role at the farm. Being responsible for the planting and caring of the vegetables, I’ve gained a greater appreciation for the wonderful bounty provided by Mother Earth and all the efforts of the farmers. When we take the time to properly feed and nurture the soil and plants, we receive an abundance of nourishment and health in return. On top of helping provide our community with delicious and nutritious produce, I would like to share my knowledge of food nutrition and be of service as a holistic nutritionist.

Please visit my website (https://nutritionwithlinh.com/) and Instagram page (https://www.instagram.com/nutritionwithlinh/)to get know me more personally and professionally. You can also sign up for my weekly newsletter (https://forms.aweber.com/form/26/384612926.htm) where I’ll be sharing nutritional and health benefits of the produce in each week’s CSA share!  I look forward to meeting and speaking to many of you throughout this season!

In health and wellness,

Linh
