Fall Cooking

Posted on October 26th, 2022 by Brittany Reardon

Cooking in fall is one of my favorite things. Simmering a pot of broth on the stove...braising a pastured cut of meat raised by friends in the oven...or even baking a simple pizza with fresh garlic and mozzerella is so much more enjoyable when there's a chill in the air. Kind of makes you want to pour a glass of red wine and cut up some local cheddar while you cook, right?! or is that just me...? There's so much local goodness available right now. We hope you're enjoying cooking up delicious meals with friends and family.

A quick reminder to sign up for your winter share this week. We're busy planting, weeding and covering ALL of the spinach, lettuce mix, radishes, kale, head lettuce, celery, carrots....

A couple notes about items in this week's share...

BEETS are a mix of smaller and larger beets. You also might receive a bunch of baby beets from the field - these are just coming on and starting to size up.

BROCCOLI is a mix of our broccoli and some from Lancaster Farm Fresh as we wait for more of ours to head up.

CABBAGES are looking a bit smaller this week, heads are $3, so if you're looking for a lot of cabbage for a project or recipe, you may want to get 2 instead of 1. There's another variety that's just starting to head up now and the jury is still out on red cabbage and savoy.....
