Summer Blends Into Fall

Posted on September 4th, 2022 by Brittany Reardon

Happy September!!

There's still a few weeks left of the summer share, and this is where we experience "season cross over". Summer fruits will hang on for a few more weeks, but more autumnal food starts to make its appearance. We have a second cantaloupe planting that's just coming on, so you'll see these on the list. Unfortunately even with irrigating the watermelon plants didn't do well, but there are lots of small cantaloupes on the vines.

Head lettuce FINALLY returns to the list this week! We hope to see more of it later in the fall, too, especially after some much needed rain predicted for this week. The sweet potato crop looks good, as well as the ginger crop which is a big fall one for us. Radishes, turnips, lettuce mix, cilantro, and fall carrots are all seeded and fingers are crossed for rain to help them pop!

In egg news, we've made the difficult decision to raise our egg price to $6/dozen. Of course if you have an egg share, your price is locked in at $5! With prices rising everywhere we had to make the jump, and we waited as long as possible to do it.

NEW ITEMS THIS WEEK! Don't forget to swap them into your share before the cutoff time of NOON on Monday, 9/5!
