Turnip Time

Posted on May 13th, 2022 by Brittany Reardon

Many of you know about Hakurei turnips, and some of you haven't yet experienced this crunchy and versatile vegetable. The Hakurei turnip is a "salad" turnip or fresh-eating turnip. It's not like your purple top turnip that must be roasted or otherwise cooked before eating. They're mild, not spicy like a radish, and have an almost-juicy texture to them.

They are delicious raw on their own or chopped in a salad. They make great snacks dipped in hummus, or any veggie dip you like. We also love them lightly cooked in a stir fry with bok choy, green garlic and mushrooms - and you can throw the turnip tops in as well!

You'll find these spring treats on the list this week. If you're looking for some cooking inspiration, give one of these a try...
