Tomato Time!

Posted on July 23rd, 2021 by Brittany Reardon

More and more tomatoes and peppers will appear in shares in the next coming weeks. There are lots of red slicing tomatoes and various heirloom varieties. Later in the season we'll distinguish between them and you'll be able to choose heirloom versus regular red slicers in your share.

Shishito peppers are in abundance now so you may see them in your share and you'll be able to swap them in if you don't see them! Blistered in olive oil in a cast iron pan and sprinkled with coarse salt, they are a delicious appetizer or snack. They're also great pickled or sauteed whole with other vegetables. Shishitos are not spicy, they are a mild pepper, although as the season progresses you may find a spicy one or two.

You'll also see a "basil pesto pack" on the share list. We'll stuff a bag full of basil for you if you add this to your share. If you're looking to make basil pesto to freeze for the winter, now is the time to do it.

There's still time to sign up for the Summer Grilling Share! Just click the link below to read more and sign up. Important note: we'll have our new chicken sausage next week, and you'll get 10% more as part of your share!
